Roger Houghton is Sales Director and Co-owner of du-tel which he established in 2000, with his long-time friend and colleague, Haydn Sinfield, to provide a unique Telecommunications Management and Solutions facility, aimed squarely at the Corporate Telecoms user.
Previously, Roger had joined Connexions plc in March 1998, as Manager - Cellular Services. Subsequently, following the acquisition of Connexions by CitiBell Holdings plc, in August 1999, he became the company's specialist Mobile Product Consultant, in which role he had responsibility for Staff and Dealer Training, Key Account Sales, plus Special Project Management. Roger was project-managing the introduction of the Dolphin Product and Network to CitiBell.
Roger is something of a Cellular "veteran" – having been involved in the industry since it's launch in 1985 – and has previously owned or managed BT Cellnet and Vodafone Dealerships and Service Centres in Tewkesbury, Hereford and Luton.
He joined the industry's only major trade body – The F.C.S. (Federation of Communication Services) - in it's early days and in 1990, was elected Chairman of the Cellular Dealers and Installers Committee, in which role he sat on a number of influential sub-committees, including those concerned with 'Quality matters' - BS Standards, FCS "Q" etc, plus "Safety & Security" issues. Through this involvement, Roger developed important and lasting relationships with a number of the industry's key players and their companies, in the fields of Manufacturing; Network Operation; Service Provision; Multiple Retailing; Installing; Repairing and Servicing.
With a solid Sales and Marketing background Roger brought to
du-tel, a wealth of experience gained in diverse markets such as Recording Materials; Italian Marble; Audio and Disco Equipment; Garden and Leisure products. He has held senior management or directorial positions in a number of major companies, since becoming 3M UK's youngest National Sales Manager at the age of 29.
